In Bed with Paige Solomon, Founder of the Dream Machine

In Bed with Paige Solomon, Founder of the Dream Machine

Introducing our "In Bed" series: intimate discussions about our horizontal lives. Our first In Bed babe is Paige Solomon, Founder and Creative Director of Dream Machine, an interactive (wildly Instagramable) pop up experience in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

I used to always go to bed with makeup on. Then my sister, @ohmyerotica, convinced me otherwise. I remember going to sleep on my 26th birthday and vowing to never sleep with makeup on again. I’m a year into it and can’t imagine not washing my face before going to sleep!

My nightly skin care routine is Cetaphil gentle cleanser, Aquaphor on my  lips, and seriously way too much coconut oil. Before bed I lather my face and body with coconut oil. Sometimes I go a bit overboard…

I usually fall asleep between 9-11 every night. However, nearing the end of production for @inthedreammachine, I’ve been getting home past my bedtime. I’m pretty lucky though — regardless of the time, I can fall asleep within 15 minutes always.

The book on my nightstand that I’ll never finish is Tools of Titans by Timothy Ferriss. It’s a compilation of all the tricks, habits, routines of super successful people. It’s categorized by section and then each section has various people to read about so it’s perfect for jumping around!

My dreams are all over the place, but a lot of them usually have water in them of some kind (perhaps the Pisces in me?) and I always love when I see my grandma in them. She passed away from Alzheimer's a few years ago but in my dreams, she is happy and healthy. I feel like it’s her way of stopping by and letting me know she’s just in another dimension.

I wanted to create a space that felt like a respite from the harsh reality of the outside world. Dream Machine is inspired by dreams (both sleep and aspirational). Creatively, dreams are never ending, ever changing, and universal. Ultimately, allowing people to escape their every day and enter a space that allows them to feel inspired when they leave, is and will always remain my greatest inspiration.
