Unbound's Guide to CBD Lube

When we first considered launching a CBD product, we wanted to make sure we were doing it with the right intentions. CBD feels like it is everywhere right now and naturally, there is a lot of skepticism and overpromising involved with these products. What compelled us to move forward was the feedback that we heard from our community regarding their experience while using CBD products.  We secured a great manufacturing partner and worked to create content (like the article you see below) to help educate people who might be new to this type of product on how they can be a more informed and thoughtful consumer when purchasing in the cannabis space. The response we've had since launching Dazy has been more than we could have asked for. Seeing positive reviews and reading heartfelt emails from people who love Dazy has been really rewarding and we're so grateful that it's proved to be a product that people enjoy.  Unfortunately, due to the regulatory barriers outside our power, we need to discontinue the sale of Dazy.

While we look into more substantial solutions, we are taking Dazy "off the shelves" for the moment in order to remain in compliance with our payment processor. We plan to keep this content in place should we bring Dazy back and education is important. This stinks, and we're sorry for any inconvenience.

CBD is kind of the new cronut. It's everywhere and yet, many of us are still uncertain of what exactly it is and how it might be used. We've assembled this handy guide to help answer some of the most common questions you might have before enjoying CBD lube. As always, if you have any concerns beyond this information, please consult with a trusted medical professional.

CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is a non-addictive, safe compound found in the cannabis (or hemp) plant. It is a naturally occurring substance but unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), it is nonpsychoactive. No buzz, no munchies, no paranoia.

what are the benefits of cbd

CBD is believed to help reduce inflammation. Other possible benefits of using a CBD lube are a reduction in pain (for those who suffer from painful intercourse), relaxed muscles, and increased blood flow–all of which could contribute to reduced anxiety.

will this make me high

CBD does not have the intoxicating effects of THC, and won’t have any impact on your motor function or cognitive skills. While you won’t get high and while you can’t OD, everybody processes CBD differently. Start with a small dose of lube and if you’re not feeling anything after 1-2 minutes, you can gradually increase usage.

does the effect work immediately

Once you apply the lubricant, it will take about 30 seconds to one minute before you feel a warming effect. While there is no actual warming agent in most CBD lubes, the sensation is caused by an increase in blood flow and a reduction of inflammation. Re-apply as often as needed. If the sensation is too intense or if you have any sort of negative reaction, discontinue use immediately. You might also want to wash or rinse the affected area to ensure there is no residual product remaining.

what if weed is not legal in my state?

Hemp is a form of cannabis that has had the THC bred out of the plant. The Hemp Farming Act was introduced into the 2018 Farm Bill. This act, which was signed into law in December 2018 removed hemp from the federal list of controlled substances and classified it as an agricultural commodity. As a result, CBD derived from hemp is legal nationwide.

The vast majority of drug tests are designed to detect tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the chemical in marijuana that gets you high. These tests are not designed to detect CBD.

Companies can request custom tests to detect CBD, but because of the time and expense involved, there is little incentive for them to do so. To put this in perspective, employees of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are not tested for CBD.

does cbd interfere with hormonal birth control

Although there have been a few studies carried out, nothing is certain, and there is very little evidence on the interaction of CBD and hormonal contraception. Since we’re all safety babes here, if you are at all concerned, consult with your doctor before use! This also applies to any other hormone therapies or medication that you might be taking. Remember that since Dazy is a water-based lubricant, it is compatible with latex and all other condom materials. If you or your partner is pregnant, consult with your care professional to discuss using CBD.

why is cbd lube more expensive than a bottle of regular water based lube?

The process of growing, harvesting, extracting, and testing are all required when it comes to CBD products, including lube. In order to comply with ethical practices throughout the process, the cost is reflected in the price.

how can i be a more ethical cannabis consumer?

Remember that although laws and social attitudes concerning the consumption of cannabis are changing, the criminalization of cannabis occurred under racist premises, the stigma of which still affects marginalized communities today–especially in terms of arrest records. Movements thrive on accountability and participation, so if you’ve got a local dispensary, ask them about their hiring practices and how they give back to the populations disparaged by the War on Drugs. Get involved in local politics and take a closer look at when and how laws are enforced. Volunteer with and donate to organizations looking to make a positive change, such as Cage-Free Cannabis and NORML, and support platforms that encourage inclusivity and destigmatization, such as Cannaclusive and Estrohaze.
